Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit, the reasons it may be used, and the limited situations in which another party may receive it. By continuing to use Iredell County Criminal History, you agree to the practices stated below.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates it. That provider processes the request and supplies any result. Iredell County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

When you email us, the message is retained so a response can be provided. It remains within the site team unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.

Data We Gather Automatically

Routine technical information reaches our servers when a page loads, including:

  • Your device's assigned IP address
  • Browser name and version
  • Operating system and device category
  • Pages viewed and approximate visit length
  • Referring website, when available
  • Date and time of each page request

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files saved on a device. We use them with analytics services to understand aggregate traffic, popular pages, and where visits end. You may block cookies through browser controls, although doing so can change how some site functions behave.

What We Do With This Data

  • Operate the site and maintain page speed
  • Route a submitted search to the selected partner
  • Measure which resources visitors use
  • Find and repair technical problems
  • Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

We do not build, host, or sell a database of personal criminal records. The site publishes general directions to records held by the Iredell County Sheriff's Office, the Clerk of Superior Court, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not compiled into consumer reports or third-party criminal files.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside businesses provide the search boxes found on some pages. Information submitted through a tool is governed by that provider's privacy policy. The provider also chooses its retention and disclosure practices. We do not control those choices, so review the applicable partner policy before entering a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to North Carolina courts, the Iredell County sheriff, state offices, legal resources, or outside search services. Once you leave this site, the destination's policy applies. Review it before giving that website personal information.

Advertising companies may also use their own technology to measure activity across websites and select targeted ads. That processing occurs on their systems.

Who Might See Your Data

Personal information is not sold by this site. Data may be available to:

  • Search providers that process a query you submit
  • Analytics vendors that measure traffic and performance
  • Advertising networks that deliver ads
  • Government or law-enforcement authorities responding to a valid legal demand

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable, commonly used security measures protect information in our care. No internet service can promise perfect security, however, and we cannot guarantee that a breach will never occur.

Users Under 18

This website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone younger than 18. If a minor's information is identified, a request may be made for its deletion.

Your Data Rights

Rights may differ by residence and the law that applies. North Carolina's Public Records Law, Chapter 132, governs access to government records, while G.S. 132-1.10 requires public agencies to protect specified identifying data in responsive records. Those government-record rules are separate from this private site's policy. Subject to applicable law, you may:

  • Request a copy of personal data we hold about you
  • Ask that incorrect information be fixed
  • Request deletion of your personal information
  • Object to certain forms of processing

Updates to This Policy

This policy may be revised as site practices or legal requirements change. An updated version will appear here and show a new effective date.
